How it works
How do I sign up?
Below is our interactive schedule. Select a trial class and sign up with your name and email. We'll send you an email with useful information before the class.
Level
What is my level?
Not sure which class to sign up for? Pick what fits you. Applies to both salsa and bachata.
Never danced before, not even other styles? Then you start with Beginners 1, for example in a trial class or during trial week. Joining a higher level isn't possible yet.
No salsa or bachata experience but you've done another dance style? You'll probably pick up the basics quickly. We still recommend starting at Beginners 1: skipping levels means missing a lot. You can always move up early if class feels too easy. Joining a higher level is only possible after talking with a Watapana teacher.
Took one or more courses but haven't danced in a long time? Start 1 or 2 levels lower. Our level system works differently from other schools, and a class that's slightly too easy beats one that's too hard.
- Beginners 1, 2, 3 – for people just starting out. Each course takes about 12 weeks; after Beginners 1–3 you have around 9 months of experience.
- Improvers 1, 2, 3 – for dancers who know the basics. After Improvers 1–3 you have about 1.5 years of experience.
- Intermediate – usually for dancers with about 2 years of consistent classes and practice.
- Advanced – for dancers with more than 2 years of solid experience.
Switching from another dance school? Start 1 level below your current level. We have our own techniques, and you learn those best in a class where the combinations and footwork are not too intense, so you can focus on the details.
